Understanding ABA TherapyApplied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific and evidence-based approach to understanding behavior and helping individuals develop meaningful skills.
ABA uses objective assessment, systematic observation, data collection, individualized intervention, and ongoing evaluation of patient progress.
ABA treatment may help patients develop communication, social, adaptive, daily living, functional, and independence skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with learning, safety, social participation, and quality of life.
Every patient is unique. For this reason, JOVIAL does not use a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment.
Services begin with an individualized assessment conducted or overseen by a qualified Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Based on the assessment results, clinical needs, and treatment goals, the BCBA develops an individualized treatment plan.
The treatment plan identifies measurable goals, treatment strategies, data collection procedures, caregiver involvement, and methods for evaluating patient progress.
Patient progress is continuously monitored through data collection and analysis. Treatment plans and interventions are reviewed and modified when clinically appropriate based on objective data and the patient’s response to treatment.
Our Approach to ABA TreatmentJOVIAL is committed to providing patient-centered and family-centered ABA services.
Our treatment approach emphasizes:
• Individualized care
• Evidence-based clinical practices
• Objective and measurable treatment goals
• Data-based clinical decision-making
• Patient dignity and respect
• Family and caregiver involvement
• Clinical supervision and oversight
• Treatment integrity
• Generalization of skills across people and environments
• Continuous evaluation of patient progress
• Coordination and continuity of care when clinically appropriate
Our goal is to provide meaningful ABA treatment that supports each patient’s development, independence, participation in everyday activities, and overall quality of life.

Applied – Treatment focuses on behaviors and skills that are socially significant and meaningful to the patient and family.
Behavioral – Treatment goals focus on observable and measurable behaviors.
Analytic – Data are collected and analyzed to evaluate the relationship between treatment interventions and patient progress.
Technological – Treatment procedures and interventions are clearly defined and documented so they can be implemented consistently.
Conceptually Systematic – Treatment procedures are based on established principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Effective – Treatment is designed to produce meaningful and measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
Generality – Treatment promotes the maintenance and generalization of skills across people, environments, and situations.
